President Suleiman Denounces the Attack on Harqous
President Michel Suleiman on Friday denounced the attack by pro-Syrian partisans on news reporter Omar Harqous, saying it distorts Lebanon's image.
Suleiman, talking to visiting Arab justice ministers at the Baabda Palace, urged the judiciary to hold the culprits accountable.
"All freedoms, topped by freedom of the media, should be respected," Suleiman stressed.
The attack on Harqous by members of the Syrian Social National Party (SSNP) was thoroughly tackled by a cabinet meeting under Suleiman on Thursday.
Interior Minister Ziad Baroud assigned Beirut Police chief Brig. Gen. Nabil Merhi to supervise the investigation with suspects in the attack that targeted a reporter of the Future Television.
